A Practical Joke

A couple of years ago we needed to replace a kitchen appliance and the best model at the store was on sale. The catch was that it came bundled with an electric knife. The bundle was a great deal so we bought it but then we had this electric knife we were never going to use.

For two years we’ve tried to give it away to anybody and everybody who came to our house and no one would take it. On Christmas Eve, Ed tried to send it off with his parents who were having none of it. They suggested that we bring it to Ed’s aunt’s place for Christmas dinner and hide it somewhere in the house. After a couple glasses of wine we decided this was a great idea and agreed.

I think Ed was intending for it to be discovered while we were there, but the moment never came and we went home knifeless. The knife has since been discovered but no one has connected us to the deed so we’re just not going to admit to anything unless someone asks.

I fully expect this knife to turn up at various relatives’ houses over the years until someone hides it in our tub. I hope we’ve started a tradition!

Art Materials

Hi all! I’ve run out of brush pens and no store in the city has the kind I need. Or any other kind that will work.

After a few false starts I’ve had to try to make this next comic digitally and it’s a lot slower than I thought. I’m sorry for not updating, I will put something up soon, and I’ve ordered some new pens although who knows when they’re going to arrive.

Spider Forest Applications!

Hola faithful readers! Our comic collective, Spider Forest, is accepting applications for new members. If you have a comic and would like to join you can check out the application page here. And if you don’t have a comic you can go there anyway and find more comics to read. :) The deadline for applications is January 24th so don’t delay!

I Am Not on Hiatus!

I am just posting a rather large backlog of backdated comics.

I Broke My Goat

Something has come up and updates are going to be scarce this week. I should be back next week as usual! And then I’ll be gone again mid-August but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. :)

Minipants!

I am making minicomics!

The first batch was dropped off at the local comics shop last week.

I’ll be making up another batch this weekend. They contain the first 24 strips that people like. You can read them all for free here, but in the future I’ll be doing some longer mini-only stories from my speckled past.

Unfortunately I’m not set up to accept long-distance orders just yet, unless you live in Canada and went to school with me, in which case toss me a PM in the usual spot and I’ll see what I can hook you up with for $2 + shipping. (Note: it is not poisonous centipedes, I cannot hook you up with those for $2). There will be a second issue coming out soon, though, so you might want to wait and get a few together.

I am very excited about this! I hope to sell enough of these to eventually pay for all the comics I bought at the comics shop when I was dropping these off. :D
